As is the tradition for more than 50 years, the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts is working with the Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir to create a lovely Christmas pageant. The cast is huge, the sets are elaborate, and the customs are incredible. What’s better? The tickets are free – though you do need to make reservations.

Share your favorite memories with your kids at A Charlie Brown Christmas

If you remember the animated special, A Charlie Brown Christmas, then you’ll love this stage performance of it. It’s one of the most talked about December activities and things to do in Irving and the surrounding areas, so be sure to buy your tickets early! The shows will be taking place at the Dallas Children’s Theater.

Enjoy the Museum of Modern Art

Fridays are a great time to visit the Museum of Modern Art, thanks to their Friday events that feature live music and a unique 20-minute, docent-led tour through the galleries. This is perfect for a girl’s night out or date night.

Do your holiday shopping at one of the best Christmas activities around

christmas shopping

Take a trip to Arlington to visit one of the most popular Christmas activities in the area: The Christkindl Market. First started in 2011, it’s a replica of a German Christmas market and truly has something for every taste.
You’ll see authentic German eats, live entertainment, and of course vendors selling their artisan wares. Kids love the petting zoo and the Santa Haus marionette show, and can even sign up to participate in the nighttime lantern parade. Both parking and admission are free.

When searching for things to do in Dallas and the Fort Worth area, you’ll find plenty of December activities and Christmas activities, but don’t forget about unique January activities when the New Year comes along. In early January, you can stop by Fair Park to enjoy Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibit. Make sure to add this to your New Year’s activities list – it’ll be here until January 8th.
